We are delighted that you would like to join us this summer! Remember that this program has LIMITED CAPACITY and is ONLY FOR CELLISTS.

  • What? Our THOMAS LOEWENHEIM CELLO INTENSIVE

  • Where? Fresno State music buildings

  • When? July 6-16, 2021, Monday – Saturday: Daily Lessons: 9:00 – 3:00 PM; Cello Ensemble: 4:00 – 5:30 PM

  • Repertoire? Piazzolla's Four Seasons, arranged for cello ensemble and piano

  • How much? $850 for Solo Program; $400 for Ensemble-Only Program

  • Deadline? Application deadline is Friday June 4, 2021, at 11:59pmPST (applications received after the deadline will be considered if spaces remain unfilled)

You may select

  • Solo Program (includes daily private lessons with piano accompaniment, plus cello ensemble)

  • Cello Ensemble Program Only (daily cello ensemble rehearsals only; no private lessons, cellists who are participating ONLY in the Ensemble Program are welcome to attend morning classes as auditors)

Acceptance is competitive and based on your audition video(s). If you are not accepted into the Solo Cello Program, you can still choose to participate in the Cello Ensemble Program. When filling out the application form below, please indicate your interest in doing this.

Cellists of all ages are welcome to apply to participate in this program. However, be aware that space is exceedingly limited.

There will be 10 spaces available for the Solo Program of the 2021 Cello Intensive, and 10 additional spaces will be offered for the Cello Ensemble Program, which will run daily in the afternoon. Cellists who are participating ONLY in the Ensemble Program are welcome to attend morning classes as auditors, but if they are minors they must be accompanied by an adult or must make arrangements directly with Dr. Loewenheim to be permitted to attend.

If you are accepted into this summer's Cello Intensive, you will be invited to pay the fees for whichever program or programs you have been chosen for.

Here are your instructions for applying to the FOOSA CELLO INTENSIVE SUMMER 2021 PROGRAM.

REQUIRED AUDITION VIDEO(S)

Record a video in which you perform two contrasting pieces or movements (one lyrical, one more technical). If you have only one piece prepared, just record that one. If you have already used this video for the FOOSA LITE application, that’s fine. You may use it again if you still like it.

  • UPLOADING YOUR VIDEOS TO YOUTUBE: It's easy and free. If you need step-by-step instructions, you can click here for a video version, or click here for a regular print version. Note that the video version does not mention that you will want to select the "unlisted" option when saving your videos to YouTube. PLEASE DO THIS!

  • SELECT "UNLISTED" WHEN SAVING YOUR VIDEO. You can then easily send us links, but your videos will not be public. 

REQUIRED $20 APPLICATION FEE

Just remember that your application cannot be considered without both the audition video(s) and the application fee. So please be prepared to pay by credit card when you submit the application.*

Note that tuition assistance is available but limited. Apply early to take fullest advantage of these awards.

INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
